Commercial Toilet Cubicle Site Measurement Guide: Preventing On-Site Errors in Qatar

Because solid compact laminate and glass partition panels are precision CNC-machined in a factory environment, they cannot be easily cut or modified on the job site without compromising factory edge treatments and warranties. Accurate site surveying prior to panel fabrication sign-off is vital.

The Golden Rule: Only Measure from Finished Surfaces

The most frequent cause of cubicle installation failure in Qatar construction is measuring from rough blockwork or screed before tiling is completed. Adhesive beds, wall tiles, and plaster can add anywhere from 12mm to 25mm per wall face, creating massive dimensional discrepancies.

6-Point Site Measurement Checklist

1. Finished Tile Surfaces (FFL & Walls)

Never take final production dimensions from bare concrete blockwork or sand-cement screeds. Wall and floor tiles must be fully installed and grouted. A 15mm variation in plaster/tile thickness will cause CNC-cut panels not to fit.

2. Wall Plumb & Out-of-Square Checks

Measure widths at three distinct elevations: finished floor level (100mm up), mid-height (1000mm up), and top rail height (2000mm up). Check corner squareness with a 3-4-5 builder's square or laser tool to identify wall taper.

3. Sanitary Fixture Centerlines

Verify exact centerlines of water closets (WCs), bidets, and flush valves. Ensure the partition division will not collide with the toilet bowl or leave inadequate user elbow clearance (minimum 400mm clearance from WC centerline to partition is recommended).

4. Floor Fall & Gully Grates

Check the slope of floor tiles toward drainage floor traps. Note the highest and lowest points across the cubicle run so adjustable foot pedestals can be calibrated within their 100mm–150mm adjustment range.

5. Door Swing Clearances & MEP Fixtures

Ensure inward-swinging doors clear the front lip of the toilet pan by at least 200mm. Verify that door swings will not hit toilet roll dispensers, sanitary bins, grab bars, or light switches.

6. Ceiling Height & Lighting Coordination

For floor-to-ceiling cubicles, measure slab-to-false-ceiling height at multiple intervals. Ensure top partition channels do not intersect with air conditioning diffusers, fire sprinkler heads, or emergency downlights.
