Architectural Toilet Cubicle Specification Guide (Section 10 21 13) for Qatar Projects

This architectural specification guide is structured according to MasterFormat Section 10 21 13 (Toilet Compartments) and tailored for integration into Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) tender packages.

Part 1: General Requirements & Submittals

1.1 Submittal Requirements

  • Product Data: Manufacturer technical data sheets for all panel cores, laminates, and ironmongery fittings.
  • Shop Drawings: Coordinated CAD layouts showing plan dimensions, elevations, pilaster anchor locations, door swings, and clearance distances to all sanitary fixtures and MEP accessories.
  • Physical Samples: Full-sized 150mm x 150mm sample boards showing the authentic compact laminate core, surface texture, and CNC-beveled edge finish, along with full-size hardware samples.
  • Test Reports: Independent laboratory test reports verifying EN 438-4 water impermeability, ASTM E84 / EN 13501 fire classification, and chemical resistance test reports (where clinical washrooms are specified).

Part 2: Products & Materials

2.1 Solid Compact Laminate (Phenolic Core)

Panels shall be high-pressure compact laminate manufactured in accordance with EN 438-4 Type CGS. Core density shall not be less than 1,400 kg/m³. Board thickness shall be 13mm (or 12mm where approved by Consultant). Exposed edges shall be precision CNC-machined with a 2mm–3mm radius and treated with protective oil. No glued edge banding is permitted.

2.2 Hardware & Ironmongery (Grade 304 / Grade 316 Stainless Steel)

  • Hinges: Gravity-action self-closing or hold-open hinges manufactured from cast Grade 304 or 316 stainless steel with internal lubricated nylon cams. Through-bolting with tamper-proof security sleeve bolts is mandatory.
  • Indicator Deadbolt Latch: Concealed mortise or surface-mounted turn-snib with external red/green status indicator and coin-operated emergency release slot.
  • Pedestals: Adjustable foot pedestals providing 100mm to 150mm height adjustment, anchored into the subfloor with M8 stainless expansion anchors and covered with brushed stainless escutcheon boots.
  • Wall Channels: Continuous heavy-gauge extruded anodized aluminum or stainless steel U-channels securing partition divisions to tiled walls.

Part 3: Execution & Installation

Installation shall not commence until all wet trades, floor tiling, wall tiling, and ceiling framing are 100% complete and signed off. All pilasters must be plumbed to a tolerance of ±1mm over 2000mm height. Door gaps shall be uniform at 3mm to 4mm along all verticals.
